How Bonsai Trees Can Help Improve Your Child's Future

In today's fast paced world we are seeing flagrant disregard for human nature and the environment.  We are seeing these effects in increased obesity, more heart attacks and higher rates of cancer than ever before.  These ill effects are even beginning to have an impact on our children.

As parents and educators we have a responsibility to encourage our children to view our world in a more loving and environmentally friendly way.  The difficulty is knowing what will reach our children and what activities are the best choices.  One such activity is growing and indoor bonsai tree garden.

Here are some points to consider when looking at the benefits to your child or student when growing an indoor bonsai tree garden:

  1. Science:   When children watch the wonders of science such as watching a bonsai tree grow, they are given a first hand experience to the miracle of life.  By observing and caring for their indoor bonsai tree, children can learn the direct correlation between human intervention and plant health.
  2. Life Cycle, Growth:   Watching a bonsai tree grow is as wondrous as the conception and birth of a child.  Children will begin to love and care for their bonsai tree in the same way that they have been loved and cared for.  They will feel sadness when their bonsai tree is in need of special care and they will feel pride when they see their bonsai tree grow and flourish.
  3. Stress Reduction:   Stress reduction may not seem like something that children need to worry about, but in today's modern society it is,  Children today are busier and scheduled than ever before.  Divorce, two working parents and increased school work has made for a stressful childhood.  Studies show that activities like bonsai tree gardening can reduce stress and cause a calming effect.
  4. Quality Time with Mom and Dad:   When a young child spends quality time with mom and dad they will do better in school and have more friends.  Tending to a bonsai tree garden is a perfect way to spend time together.  Your bonsai tree garden will give you and your child hours of relaxation time together.  You will also find that while you are tending to your bonsai tree garden your child will open up and talk to you about what is taking place in his or her daily life.

Allow children to become aware of the environment and the living creatures and plants by growing and tending a bonsai tree garden.  You will never regret the special bonding time spent with your child or student while tending to your bonsai tree.
